She then dedicated herself to the creation of a Western interpretation of this delectable drink, which she dubbed Oregon Chai. These cups are designed to work in most individual cup coffee machines. The recipe is simple: tea leaf plus chai spices such as clove, cinnamon and cardamom, sugar and milk combine to create a warm and delicious alternative to your customary coffee, cappuccino or tea beverage. The recipe also incorporates stevia, a natural sweetener, which makes this a great option for those who want to enjoy a social cuppa with friends, but don’t want to drink all of their calories for the day. Another thing this author loved about the ingredients list is that its short, I can read it, and I know what everything is. No mystery ingredients or chemicals here; all natural too! It is a lovely, silky drink with a mild spice and creamy flavor.
In the interest of a thorough review of the product and because when the weather gets hot I love iced chai, I tried it cold. I poured the brewed chai over a glass of ice…..and it was delicious! Product versatility is a win in my book. In short, Oregon Chai Single Serve Chai Tea Latte cups are definitely a product I will use again, and keep as a staple in my kitchen. I hope that they add other products and flavors from their product line to their single serving selection.
Oregon Chai was also kind enough to supply a package of their Scoop to Taste Vanilla Chai mix and their Original Chai Tea Concentrate. I won’t lie, I was super excited to try the Vanilla Chai as it is my favorite! First I tried the Original Chai Tea Concentrate- it couldn’t be easier. Just equal parts concentrate and the milk of your choice. I used dairy milk, and the result was very authentic. Creamy, just the right amount of sweet and spice. It was heaven. This product can be heated or served cold, and on an unseasonably warm day i found the iced version to be extremely refreshing. The convenient packaging is shelf stable until opening so you can always have some on hand!!
Lastly, I tried the Vanilla Chai Tea Latte Powder. It’s a really tough call for me whether the Vanilla Chai Tea Latte powder or the Original Concentrate is my favorite. I’m not a fan of stevia, so the main win for the single serve cups for me was convenience. For these it is taste hands down. The Vanilla Chai Tea Latte is also superbly easy to use. The suggested serving is 3 Tablespoons in 6-8 ounces of water. I was able to use my personal coffee system, scooped the powder into my favorite cup, pushed the button and in seconds had the perfect creamy cup of Vanilla Chai. The amount of product can be adjusted to suit personal taste.
All together, it is this Author’s opinion that Oregon Chai makes an entire product line that is superb. I will definitely be keeping a supply on hand in my kitchen for gatherings, when the occasional friend drops by, or just for a quiet afternoon.
