Tales From a Southern Mom recently had the opportunity to review “mamacloth” personal menstrual pad products from Pink Lemonade.
“That time of the month” isn’t particularly fun to experience, or discuss, but with cloth menstrual products I truly believe I have found something to change getting your period for the better, permanently. And that, my friends, is worth talking about.
All cloth menstrual products have a few key features in common, they are reusable, they are available in pretty or fun prints which make your monthly visit a bit more cheery, they are chemical free, comfortable and over time reduce cramping and heavy menstrual flow. All of those are major benefits in my book.
But not all cloth menstrual products, or mamacloth as they are affectionately known, are made the same. Every maker and manufacturer has their own twist that makes their design unique. Pink Lemonade is no different.
The first thing I noticed about Pink Lemonade is their cute prints. Most of their products are made with either solid (hello rainbows!) or print Minky tops. This makes for an exceptionally soft layer against your delicate skin. I found it to be heavenly. Not only was I keeping plastic menstrual products out of a landfill, I was not putting chemicals against my skin. And in their place was silky, pillowy softness. Ahhh. And cute. Did I mention cute? I love the coordinating prints they sent in my signature color.
Another thing I really loved about Pink Lemonade that makes them unique is the backing. Each pad is backed in a grey Windpro fleece that is squishy soft, but really grips your panties and stays in place (and traps moisture like nobody’s business). Like most mamacloth, Pink Lemonade has snaps on the wings which you use to attach them onto your underwear, but some other pads slide around or twist with activity or overnight. Not Pink Lemonade, they really stay put which gives me a lot of confidence with my active lifestyle.
The pads come in a variety of sizes and weights, so you can find perfect pads for teens, postpartum, light or heavy flow. They are available singly or in sets as well. They come with complete care instructions, and care couldn’t be easier. I expected stains, but found that I could just give them a quick rinse in cold water and launder with my regular laundry and they came out looking brand new!
So check out Pink Lemonade on their Facebook page or website and pick up a little menstrual pick me up, you will be so glad you did! Because they are so awesome they are giving away a $25.00 gift card to one of our readers so that they can try mama cloth too!
