An essential oil diffuser uses the cold air to break down the essential oils into microscopic particles and disperse them into the air. As we breath, the itty bitty particles of oil enter our body and work their specific job. I was fortunate enough to review a great GreenAir Spa Mister diffuser.
Diffusing isn’t the same as just making things smell good. If you use high quality essential oils and they are diffused properly they actually carry powerful benefits for your health.
I know, in the very little knowledge I have about essential oils one of the questions I hear often is, “Can’t I just use my humidifier’? The answer is no, and I did some research on this to find out why.
Kathleen at Yankee Homestead says this about using Essential Oils in a humidifier:
1. Most humidifiers run continuously. There is no timer setting to allow the body the necessary time to absorb the oils.
2. Essential oils, especially citrus oils, break down plastic. Most humidifiers are not constructed to hold up to essential oil usage. diffuser are specifically designed to handle essential oils. humidifier are made to handle water.
3. Humidifier do not break essential oils down into that teeny, tiny size that allows for greater absorption by the body. humidifier can disperse essential oils, but a diffuser will nebulize them into miniscule particles that can be more readily inhaled and absorbed.
4. Some humidifiers use warm air. You definitely would not want to use essential oils in a warm air humidifier, because heating the oils can damage their therapeutic properties.
It is worth it to get a diffuser and not to use a humidifier!
For me and my family, I use essential oils pretty sparingly, I know there are others that use them daily and even internally. I think diffusing is safer than any other method of using them.
I love the diffuser I got from GreenAir, it is a beautiful addition to my bedroom, it does not take up a lot of space and it works really well. The diffuser itself is actually under a pretty glass vase that has a hole at the top to allow the mist out. You don’t see all of the inner workings of it in your room. It’s very easy to use and clean, has two different timer options and a three level night-light. I also enjoy the sound of the diffuser, it sounds like a gentle stream to me. This GreenAir SpaMister runs for up to 4 hours and is cool to touch. It features 2 setting options: 1 Hour timer, 2 Hour timer and Power Off all controlled by the push of a button
Because you fill it with water and then only use a few drops of oil it also makes your oils last much longer, but it is enough to get aromatherapy essential oils dispersed into a micro fine vapor, allowing them to remain suspended in the air for an extended time.
There are quite a few diffusers out there now and I know that they are such a confusing thing to purchase. At GreenAir they have many for you to choose from and explain the benefits of each one so that you get the one you need. GreenAir is graciously sponsoring a giveaway for our reader of one of their diffusers. Enter Below and Good Luck to all!
