It has been a bang up start to this new year. I was not at all prepared for what hit our house right after New Years Day, and I hope that this post helps you to be a little more prepare than I was for the dreaded stomach flu should it hit your house. It is cold and flu season and when it comes you want everything prepared!
My middle son woke up in the middle of the night vomiting and feeling overall horrible, and about 2 hours later Destini woke up the same way, I first thought that maybe we had a case of food poisoning and that it was just going to stay with these two. I was wrong. Two days later my oldest son started with it and within two hours I was starting with it. Ugh!
This was one of those times where you are not sure whether you should move from the bathroom back to the bed or just stay in the bathroom until it is all over. I was so sick, it seemed that everyone who got this did ok with it, except for me, I had it for 3 days straight, headache, body aches, fever, chills, light-headed, and not able to keep anything in my stomach. Two days in and I knew that I needed to get to the doctor, but I was too sick to go anywhere and frankly I had no desire to even move, that was when it dawned on me that I could see a doctor without leaving my house, with Doctor on Demand!
Doctor on Demand is a fabulous app that you can use on your phone and it is easy and such a comfort when you are sick. I simply downloaded it, set up my account, and then made an appointment for one hour later. It was really neat how I was able to pick which doctor I wanted, and I was able to make an appointment for when it was convenient for me.
Right on time I got a text asking me to open the app and there was the doctor talking to me from his office right to where I was at home. He asked my symptoms, if I had any other medical conditions, talked to me about what to do to manage my upset stomach and even called in a prescription for me to help with the nausea! WOW! I was so impressed and even though there was nothing that could really be done to “fix” me, knowing that a doctor had let me know it was ok and what to do made me feel so much better. I loved that I did not have to go to an office and expose everyone there to this horrible virus, I love this future look at healthcare.
So, my advice to you is get some ginger ale, some sports drink, popsicle, and jello and download the Doctor on Demand app, so that you are prepared should this virus come your way. I even have a coupon for all of my readers when you set up your account use coupon code TALES15 to get your first visit free.
You can use it to have a video visit with a pediatrician if your child is ill, or a family doctor for yourself. I know for me being able to have a doctor “see” me and me “see” them was so comforting and I know I saved myself an urgent care visit and spreading this virus all over the my city.
Simply go to Doctor On Demand, you can follow them on Twitter, Facebook, or Pinterest or just look up the app in your app store. I think you are going to love this!
