“I have been compensated by Pedialyte for this post; however, I am sharing my own thoughts. All opinions are my own.”
We recently went through an adventure here at our house David at 18 months old had to have his adenoids and tonsils removed. I was nervous, my daughter was nervous, and I think the only person who wasn’t nervous was David, he just did not know what was coming.
When we went to the pediatric surgeon he told us that the best thing we could use the days following surgery was Pedialyte. They told us that we should use the freezer packs, and the ready to drink for him from the day of surgery and for at least one week afterwards. Pedialyte is available in liquid, powder packs and freezer pops, making it easy to rehydrate at home or on the go. They don’t drink enough after surgery at this age and the doctor did not want anything else used.
Other things that people may suggest like, sports drinks, juice, and soda just don’t meet the medical guidelines for helping to prevent dehydration, especially after surgery. Pedialyte has everything their little bodies need to prevent dehydration. Juice and soda have too much sugar and not enough sodium to maintain balance for healthy hydration.
The best part was that David loves the orange and grape flavors of Pedialyte so we knew we would not have to fight to get him to take it.
At Wal-Mart they have all of the Pedialyte flavors!
I was also surprised to learn that if you do not have the right balance of electrolytes babies and young children do not absorb the hydration you are giving them very well.
I was so glad that we had gone to Wal-Mart and stocked up on Pedialyte when we all had the stomach flu. It was easy to find in the baby section so we did not have to run all over the store. I love how they have everything you could need for babies when they are sick in the baby section it is just so much more convenient. We had plenty on hand still and it helped so much in having one less thing to do.
When we had the stomach flu, even after we all started getting better the little ones still had diarrhea, the balance of healthy bacteria was off and it was not letting them heal. As long as they still had diarrhea they had Pedialyte and prebiotics.
Healthy tummies have a balance of both good and bad bacteria. When the delicate harmony that is so important to a healthy digestive system is disrupted, diarrhea can occur.
Now is the time to stock up at Wal-Mart on Pedialyte, not only will you have it when you need it, because we all know kids get sick in the middle of the night, but right now you can save $2.00 by using Ibotta.
