Summer hits hard and fast in southern California and just yesterday we still had a lot of June gloom, and yet today as you can see from my pics the sun is so bright I can hardly keep my eyes open!
I have been looking for a dress pattern that was more vintage in style and fit and I wanted it out of woven fabric, this Jamie Dress by SisBoom fit the bill perfectly!
About the pattern from the website!
The charming Jamie dress is universally appealing and perfect for all occasions. It makes for a pretty cocktail dress paired with heels, or slide on the flip-flops and head for the beach sundress style. We love it for it’s style and comfort, and with Sis Boom’s endless fabric selection you can get the most incredible looks. It complements the female figure sporting a flattering waist and and beautiful neckline. The full, flowing skirt is definitely a throwback to the best of 1960’s fashion.

I loved the pattern, putting it together was super simple and in turn made cutting it out a breeze. She also gave the dimensions for the skirt and you just cut it out like a large rectangle. Super simple.
Sewing it together was straight forward and as long as you follow the incredibly well illustrated and thought out instructions you will have no problem. I have a tendency to sew how I think it is going to go together and had to seam rip a bit.
There is a side zipper under the right arm and for the first time (for me) the instructions said to use a glue stick to put it on first and then sew it. What a brilliant idea. I have fabric washable glue so it was easy to do and made so that the zipper was easy and went in flawlessly!
If you are looking for this kind of dress for the dog days of summer, I think you should give it a try!! Check it out at SisBoom Patterns.
