This is part of a sponsored collaboration with MACE and Crossroades Media Hub, however all opinions expressed are my own.
When I first thought about doing a review on MACE I was a little concerned. I did not know if it was safe to have in the house with the kids, and I was not real sure that I wanted something like that around. Then I thought about what a fool I was for not doing it, and missing a chance of keeping us all safe.
I decided since the house across the street from us was broken into, even with our dog, I want something here in case I need it, and I am alone with the kids. This stuff is no joke and it’s not meant to be used for fun and games it is serious business to choose to use Mace on somebody.
Many of you may not know what Mace is, and I did not know either, per their website: Mace brand pepper sprays are a careful blend of oleoresin capsicum (OC Pepper) in a non-flammable vehicle. Mace Personal Defense, Inc. manufactures several different formulas—such as traditional tear gas sprays, blended sprays and OC pepper sprays—in a variety of models and spray patterns. Mace pepper sprays are formulated to be an effective, less-than-lethal means of self-defense. This is important to know, as they are all not made equal, and when you need it, you want one that works!
I was sent a very nice kit that allowed me to have an idea of all of the different kinds of products they offer. They have things for use against dogs, they have home defense products, sprays the strap to your wrist for use while jogging or playing at the park, triple action sprays that have dye in them so that the police can find the attacker easier and it has tear gas and pepper spray both, a Mace Pepper Gun and assorted key chain and compact sprays.
One of the products that I was most impressed with was the water practice cartridges, these operate just like the sprays with real pepper spray in them, but they allow you to practice using them with no fear of getting it on yourself or anyone around. This is important, as you cannot be afraid of using the spray, especially when there comes a time that you really need it.
The Mace Pepper Spray Gun shoots a power stream of pepper spray 20 feet away and at any angle. This is the tool that I like at home. Even though my husband is here, and my two grown sons are here, I feel better knowing I have something that I can use to stop and deter an intruder. Even if somebody had one of the babies I could spray them, it would upset the kids, it would hurt, but they would be home and safe while the attacker would be in jail, or at least gone from our home and away from our kids. If it was a gun with bullets, I would be too afraid to use it probably, knowing this is not lethal helps give me some peace of mind.
It’s crazy that we even need to think about these things, but the reality is we do, no matter how vigilant we are about locking doors and windows, it only takes one time to have a disaster on your hands. No matter how careful we are out shopping or walking, you just never know what might happen. I feel safer, my daughter feels safer and that means we are stronger and less likely to be a victim. Check out the Mace website and look at which item fits your life and the lifestyle of your family, protect yourself before you have to. You can also connect with them on Twitter and Facebook.

October 7, 2014 at 2:16 pmThese would be welcome in my house, I believe we should be able to protect ourselves but I do not believe a home is a place for a weapon. Pepper spray’s are a great alternative. shred with friends.
