Baby Kicks got the fitted diaper right! This could just be the night-time solution you are looking for. They are made with hemp and cotton and a touch of polyester for stretch and fit.
Baby Kicks has this to say on its website about hemp:
“We use hemp because of its durability, absorbency, and it’s natural anti-microbial properties. This means your baby will be protected naturally from bacteria, mold, mildew and fungus.
Furthermore using hemp, instead of cotton, really is better for the environment. Hemp does not deplete the soil; in fact hemp leaves return nitrogen back to the soil, which improves soil fertility, therefore requiring less fertilizer for subsequent rotated crops.”
I personally like that! It makes using cloth diapers even more eco-friendly! Sustainability is key to survival and I find diapers that use this material attractive.
Performance Review:♥♥♥♥♥ – You could easily make this diaper work for any situation and also would do well as an overnight diaper. I don’t think it could absorb anymore! It worked perfectly on a long outing and during nap time. The soaker included with this diaper, well-known as Joey Bunz is phenomenal, thin and absorbent.
Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥ – This is pretty straight forward, if you are accustomed to using covers. The diaper is a fitted, so it does require a cover. The cover issue did not take away from the ease for me as we use prefolds and covers and fitted diapers often. If you are used to AIO’s it is going to be a change to remember to use the cover over the fitted.
Customization & Fit: – ♥♥♥♥♥ The color coded snap system makes adjusting and finding the right size and fit super-easy. You simple color match the snaps on both sides and it fits well and easily. It is made with 17% polyester for stretch, so that this diaper will wrap around baby hugging every curve and keeping messes in. It is easy to increase absorbancy by using the booster or even adding two for even more protection. The booster does not add too much bulk and that is nice. Let me tell you one of the things I really like about this diaper, it can be used as a training pant just leave the snaps a little loose and because of the stretch factor they easily go up and down for toddlers.
Leak Protection: – ♥♥♥♥♥ – I don’t think you are going to have any problems with leak protection with this diaper. It really can absorb a lot of liquid and the fit of the diaper allows for messes to stay in the diaper. The gussets are strong and placed well, which means no blow outs!
Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥♥ – This diaper should be washed in an enzyme free laundry detergent. You may also find that you need to add baking soda or vinegar to keep build up at bay. Hemp absorbs so well that it also absorbs right to the core of it, that can sometimes cause some stink. I have not had any stink issues and we use this diaper all the time. Line drying in the sun will remove stains and smells or tumble dry if you prefer. It does not take any longer to dry than my other diapers. You need to wash these diapers at least 3 times before use so that it reaches maximum absorbancy.
Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥♥ – These diapers are tough, This diaper will easily be used from birth to potty training and you will probably have it for the second and third child. It is very durable.
The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ – I love the look of these fitted diapers, to me they look like the old fashioned diapers of days gone by. Any cute cover you want goes right over the top of it. I love the versitility of that option. You can buy all different colors of covers and use them with these diapers. Even if you have a cute pocket diaper, you can use that over this fitted to make it water proof.
In Conclusion: ♥♥♥♥♥- I really like this diaper and I think it is great option for using fitted and covers. It would probably take quite a bit to leak, I have not had one leak with it, and it is made very well. The insert and front pocket to put it in makes the system complete. Get some great covers and you could have a bullet proof stash with just these in it. You can get your Baby Kicks Organic fitted at the Baby Kicks website and they are $21.95 which includes the Joey Bunz insert.
