Bear On The Chair®

If you, like me find it more and more difficult to discipline and do it the right way you will be encouraged by this great toy and behavioral tool.

I have used time outs, charts, stickers, rewards, negative reinforcement, and positive reinforcement, sometimes it all just becomes too much and you cannot keep up with what is working and what is not.

The Bear on the Chair solves those problems, the bear has a T-shirt on with a patch of velcro and you can put on a happy face or a sad face depending how things are going that day, that hour or even just for a single activity.

This is brilliant, kids already like bears, they love pleasing you, and this adds those two together, kids as young as 2 years old understand the message!

This is the basics of how the bear works.  You read the Bear On The Chair story book to your child and help them understand what the bear is all about.  Have them name the bear so that it is something directly related to them and it always makes it more fun for kids.  Have the child pick out where the special place is for the chair to be for the bear to sit in.  It is also important to print out the Adoption Certificate so your child feels that the bear is really theirs.

The invention of a 7 year old girl who knew how important it was to not only hear but also to see when behavior was good or not so good, her parents took the next steps to make it come to life.

We have been using it here for potty training, and frankly it is a pretty good incentive, she loves to see that the bear is happy with her going in the big potty and it also is not too harsh when she is not successful while still allowing her to know the difference between right and wrong. Just remember to never let the sad face stick around for long!
The bear comes with (1) White shirt with Velcro circle patch, (1) Branded white plastic chair, (1) Yellow Smiley Face, (1) Red Frown Face and one story book.
You can find them here at their website, and they make awesome gifts for the holidays and for other occasions as well.  I believe they are a good gift for Moms and Dads caring for a special needs child, or for any age child over 2.  I am sure you would love to see it under the tree this holiday season.  The bear itself is so adorable it almost makes you want to just have it as a toy and not a tool.  You can use the Bear On The Chair to reinforce behaviors like

  • Cleaning their room
  • Brushing their teeth
  • Potty Training
  • Eating their veggies
  • Being nice to others
  • Also great for ASD and Autism therapy

I would say praise them. I would love this for my grandkids. I would give to my stepdaughter so she could use it for her 2 little ones.

I usually ask nicely and then use positive reinforcement with granola bars or some of his favorite snacks.

Right now we have a sticker chart for my two youngest but this is a great reinforcement.

I think this is such a cute idea. Kudos to the parents that thought this up.
