Vtech has once again found a way to help parents out just a little more. They have included some great resources on their website to make the job of helping your baby reach their milestones easier.
One of the toys they have introduced to help your littlest baby is the Lil’ Critters Play and Dream Musical Piano it is one of those toys that babies just love! It allows them to kick and learn that when they do kick it makes a noise, what could be better than that?
This toy actually amazed me a bit with what it does, it has:
70+ songs, melodies, sounds and phrases
Timer plays 15 minutes of soothing or playful music
2 ways to play: sit and play on the floor or attach to the crib to kick and play
5 animal piano keys introduce music, instruments and animals
Rabbit button and sliding owl each play 15 minutes of playful or soothing music
All of that in a toy that most people think just lays there and gets kicked by a baby. The most important thing about toys at this age is what it does to help them as they are growing and reaching for the ever-changing milestones.
David has learned to do so much in only 5 months, and in looking at the page on Vtechs website for milestones for his age, he has already, cooed, and babbled, recognizes his name, he is hearing and seeing better, holds his head steady, lifts his head and shoulders off the ground and rolls over both ways quickly. He is able to sit unsupported most of the time but he still falls over once in a while. He does grasp objects but is not reaching for them yet. It’s amazing to watch him recognize familiar people and smile at everyone, he does not make too strong of eye contact yet, but he is not 6 months old yet, and there are so many things still to come. If you have questions about your child’s milestones the articles they have written right on their website, which you can find them HERE, are incredibly helpful. Remember though, all babies grow and learn at different times so don’t worry too much.
The other toy that Vtech sent was made for babies a little older but still so neat! The Roll and Surprise Animal Train helps infants and toddlers to develop fine motor skills and has such fun with the animals that play peek a boo! There are turns and slides and buttons to push, great animal sounds and lots of color. It also helps with cause and effect learning as they see the pop ups, and 55 songs, sounds and phrases. This toys is great for older babies and toddlers alike and both age groups just love it. It brings them closer to the action and it is good for an older one to play with a little one with. Unlike the piano this one takes smaller movements to make things happen and the older they get the more they need to practice these skills.
Now on to the bigger kid stuff. I love this Chomp and Count Dino they sent me. Destini just turned three and she loves this toy for so many reasons. She loves to feed her toys she will feed just about anything with a mouth, and she is learning to count. So, as she feeds the dino she is able to count with it as the dino responds with rewarding sounds and phrases while introducing colors, numbers, shapes and food. You can push the ? mark button on the Dino and it will kind of quiz the kids to see what they are learning. They can also just push and pull the toy down the hall to “walk” their dino, while they are doing that it plays great melodies. When the kids spin the disc on the dino’s back it plays sing-along songs. The Chomp and Count Dino is a very active toy and keeps toddlers moving and learning every step of the way.
I am so grateful that Vtech has the expert panel and the milestone page available, I learned so much about both of the kids and where they should be milestone wise, I hope you take a few minutes to check it out yourself and learn something too!
