I have to tell you that I am not a young chicken and most would not even use chick in the description of me anymore. I am a mom , and I am a grandma, and I am a woman who has been having my monthly visitor since I was nine years old.  I remember my first one like it was yesterday, after almost 40 years later, it must have made a great impact.

My mom was on a trip and I was home with my dad, of course we had to go shopping for supplies and since I had no idea what I was doing and frankly neither did he, we bought the biggest box of the largest most absorbent pads we could.  I can see you laughing now, and its ok, when I think back on that I laugh too! I remember my Costco shopping dad, just telling me “this better be the right thing”!  Those pads were as large as skateboards, and I don’t even think the OB pads I used after having my kids, were as big, but that was what we bought, what we did not know what that they required a belt to be worn.  Oh, those were the days.

As they say, we have come a long way baby.  Enter the menstrual cup and even if you have already tried one, trust me when I tell you that you need to try the SckoonCup.  If you have not tried a menstrual cup, boy are you in for a treat.  No trash cans full of wrapped pads to throw away and sit in a landfill no tampons to flush and hope they go all the way down to enter our water system, this is simply a small cup that fits inside of you that collects your period flow and you clean it out about 3 times a day.  You wash it, boil it and use it again next month.  How awesome is that!

I have used other cups, and although they did the job, none did it as well or as comfortably as the SckoonCup did.  When I first agreed to try it out and review this cup I did not expect much. I was glad to keep trying other cups because honestly I did not really find comfort with the others I have tried, but I did not think this would be that different. They were all most certainly better than the pads and tampon alternatives but not perfect, so I wanted to keep trying.

The SckoonCup is made from the softest medical grade silicone, it is soft and squishy and a breeze to insert. The SckoonCup’s outer curve is velvety smooth, and just gets a little thicker and firmer toward the rim. I have found that others are bumpy around the top where the sit against your tender parts and it makes them uncomfortable.

I am completely satisfied with the SckoonCup, it is the best menstrual product I have used ever.  It fits, its comfortable, It does not leak, it is eco-friendly and I only have to buy ONE!  If you have yet to try a menstrual cup, this is the one to try, at a $38.97 price tag its cost is only about 2 months worth of disposable supplies, and these you only have to replace every 2 years according the FDA, it will however still have plenty of life left in it.
