When you are a knitter and you are knitting something, everywhere you go your knitting goes. I have had knitting in Ziploc bags, my purse, tote bags, and even plastic grocery sacks. As you can imagine none of these are very practical and while the work in a pinch, they never quite gave me what I needed to carry my knitting with me.
I have wanted a Tom Bihn Swift Knitting bag for as long as they have been around, not only does it have absolutely everything that you could want in a bag, it has everything that you could want as a knitter. I was beyond thrilled when they allowed me to review one of these bags for the Birthday Bash. This was a birthday gift I had only dreamed of, and it is perfect in every way for me and my knitting adventures.
This bag has everything you need, but lets start with the Yarn Stuff Sack that comes with it. This bag specifically for your yarn does not have any zippers, so you do not need to worry about it snagging your yarn while you work. It has a clear bottom on it so when you are working and need to change color there is no reason to open up the back to see what color is next, it also has a yarn guide, this lets you feed your yarn through and work it while the yarn remains clean and tangle free inside the bag. Amazing, I cannot tell you how many times I have chased down a ball of yarn somewhere. The Swift comes with a medium-sized yarn bag and you can purchase extras as you need them, there are small, medium and large and they all have a hook on them to clip to the inside of The Swift. Keeping the yarn up and away from all of the other tools and your work in progress is an answer a lot of knitters have been looking for.
On both sides of the inside of the bag there are clear organizer pockets to hold all of your gear. A pair of scissors, a yarn gauge, your pattern, additional yarn, different sized needles and even your keys and phone if you like. In the middle is a huge amount of room to put your work in, what I love the most about that part is that it is separated from everything else. Nothing you have in the side pockets touch your work, the yarn you have clipped in the Yarn Stuff Sack, does not come into contact with it. You simply don’t have to worry about it all becoming a mess inside. Finally The Swift closes at the top with a button, this ensures that your yarn does not get frayed or caught on a zipper every time you take it out to work. Brilliant!
This bag, was made by Tom Bihn, with the staff at Knitty magazine and you can tell that knitters were involved in the design and function of this bag. I simply love it! I love that I can have it next to me so I can work wherever I am , when its time to go, simply put everything back and off you go with your knitting, I just cannot imagine anything that would have made it better.

October 19, 2015 at 4:55 pmThe Swift Knitting Bag is Awesome! It has a place for everything! Even has a Yarn Guide that lets you feed your yarn through and work with it ,while the rest of the yarn remains clean and tangle free inside the bag. Really Love that Feature. The other feature I love is that the Knitting Bag has one button at the top to close it. I never would have to worry about my yarn getting snagged or caught in a zipper. This is definitely a care free knitting bag..
