November 11, 2015 at 1:13 pmMy favorite Thanksgiving memory is when my son was a toddler (he’s 26 now) and my grandmother, my dad and my sister were all still alive. Ever since my dad died, my mom hasn’t had us over for Thanksgiving dinner. She started spending all the holidays with my brother and his girlfriend’s family. We all live in the same small city, so it was very awkward. She had always insisted that all of the children and their spouses come to her house. She insisted on doing all of the cooking and clean up by herself. She never taught us to cook and growing up we weren’t allowed in the kitchen. I once brought a cheesecake I made and sge was fhrious and threw it in the garbage saying she already had pecan, pumpkin and sweet potato pies made. So, I would love to go back in time when my dad was still here because he was the one who held our family together. My son and I are making new traditions now.

November 11, 2015 at 9:26 amBack home in NJ, we would go to the Thanksgiving football games, and then we would have a wonderful family dinner all our friends would arrive – some for dinner, some after and we always made calls with my dad in the mornings to invite friends without family and we always loved when that person came-it made the day extra special!!

November 7, 2015 at 8:49 amMy favorite thanksgiving was not a happy one at first. I had mixed emotions on my Thanksgiving day two years ago. It was mix emotions because I didn’t have my two kids with me, the first year of me going through my divorce. I was sad and didn’t feel into the family spirit. Then I hear a knock on my door and family showed up they knew how hard this was for me they brought everything you need for a Thanksgiving dinner I smiled, I cried and burnt my marshmallow yams in the oven three times. Although I didn’t have my two kids my family came together and celebrated with me. This memory to me is what Thanksgiving is about is family coming together .

November 5, 2015 at 2:15 amMy favorite memory was every year when my grandmother would give in and let someone else in my family cook the dinner rolls – and every time she screamed and yelled about them being burnt. She was so dramatic and funny. This will be my first Thanksgiving without her. I hope I can keep those rolls unburnt for her.
