Life Without Plastic Stainless Steel Dish Set

Tales From a Southern Mom was privileged to receive a 3-Piece Stainless Steel Dish Set from LifeWithoutPlastic.com to review.  My first impression was “hey, wow, this box doesn’t weigh a ton!” Being a family of avid campers and outdoors people, with small children (who sometimes drop things), this was a review I was particularly excited about.

To begin with- the details….these dishes are BPA free, Stainless Steel, CPSIA Compliant, dishwasher safe, unbreakable, are 100% recyclable AND come with a lifetime warranty.  How can you lose with a product like that???

The plate is 8″ in diameter which is a really nice size, perfect for reasonable portions.  The bowl is also a nice size, 4.5″ in diameter, perfect for cereal, soup, stew, cobbler, ice cream, or anything else you’d want to eat 14 ounces of from a bowl.  Lastly, the cup is 3″ in diameter, and holds 12 ounces.

Now, on to the good stuff.  I opened the box to inspect the product, expecting to find rough edges and the usual, rather unsophisticated design of most camping dining ware.  Boy, I could not have been more wrong! These are AMAZING.  The edges are smooth, and the whole piece is polished to a gleaming shine.  The plate has 2 hand holds on either side to make for easy carrying without having to hold the bottom (in case your food is hot!) The bowl is similarly polished and smooth, and a nice size for holding in the hand.  Plus, it’s insulated!!  That’s right! Both the cup and bowl are insulated so you can hold your hot cocoa and not burn yourself.  The cup is my favorite. The lip is sort of beveled, to make for an almost impossibly smooth surface, plus its curvy shape makes it easy for anyone to hold- even little fingers.  The are lightweight, but super sturdy, and it is obvious that it would be difficult to even dent these amazing dishes.
