I love to read to my grand kids. They love to have the attention and what they don’t know is that most of the books I read to them have a great lesson involved. Today I read a new book called Esther: The Belle of Patience, it is the second in a series of books called Bible Belles. As we are all aware of, in today’s world, the girls who are the loudest are the ones who get noticed, and now with these books we can teach our daughters and grand daughters how to make a different kind of noise.
Showing Esther on the cover of this great book!
The main character of the book is Rooney Cruz, in this particular book she is playing soccer and is having problems dealing with a ball hog that is on her team. As the story unfolds you see when Rooney wants to do things that are not right, and will not get her what she really desires. She really wants to play more time on the field and instead she is pushed aside with the other girls for another player to hog the balls and all of the goals and glory!
Mari is Rooney’s guardian angel who shows here a special superpower that each Bible Belle possesses, and when she experiences that lesson she gets that power herself. In the case of Esther she earned the power or patience.Kids are introduced to Mari, Rooney’s Guardian Angel!
In so many bible stories it is about the verses and how the story plays out in biblical time, even if the language is simplified it is hard for kids to understand what is happening, heck lets be honest, sometimes when we read bible stories it is hard to understand how that relates to us.
I love that these Bible Bell books share a story of what is going on in Rooney’s life and why she would need the superpower. Rooney needed patience to wait to talk to her coach when the time was right and not just blurt out the problem she had. Once she watched the story of Esther unfold she was able to go back and use her new super power of patience to make things work better in her life.

I was enthralled by the characters and loved the illustrations, it was so great to see my grand daughter just soaking up every word and loving learning about Esther and what she did in the Bible.
Bible Belles are awesome, they are some of the best books I have seen for kids to learn about the women of the bible and what roles they played. I cannot wait for the third book in the series and now that they sent us the book of patience with Esther, I am going to be purchasing the first book about Hannah and prayer.
Check out their website here, there are fun activities to do and memory verses that match up with the lessons of the books. Both books are on sale now, so pick them up for the kids in your life!
