When I was first starting to sew my own clothes I bought a few patterns to try and the Bluezette by Love Notions was one of my first!
I loved how you can make so many different dresses with just one pattern. The skirt can be long, or short, it can be a tulip skirt or have a high-low hem on it and it can even be in a woven or lace fabric if you wanted. How could one go wrong with such a diverse way of making a simple dress.
When I decided to do it for this celebration I wanted to make a simple version that was more of a fit and flare look with a bright liverpool fabric for my summer wardrobe.
I made the dress length half circle skirt with cap sleeves and it was perfectly what I was looking for. I chose the blousy bodice rather than the slim fit as I have lots of lumps and bumps to cover. I thought at first it would be a better choice to do the slim fit bodice for the fit and flare look, but after doing a muslin I found that it was just too form fitting for my figure.
In my muslin I also did not like the way the elastic sat on my very pear shape so I chose to leave it out in my final version. It is so smooth and comfortable it is going to be great to just hang around the house in or to wear out to dinner and shopping.
The Bluezette is so versatile that I think if you could own just one dress pattern this would be the one to own. It is just so easy to use all of the different parts of the dress interchangeably. Check out Love Notions and all of their patterns at their website HERE! Don’t forget to join the Facebook group, that will give you tons of help and guidance with making your patterns.
Let’s celebrate Bluezette’s 2 year anniversary with a blog tour and a sale! Ladies Bluezette is on sale for $8 and the girls Bluezette is on sale for $6 through the tour. http://bit.ly/2s6AgoR
