I apply for a lot of pattern testing opportunities and I do this so that I can stretch my skills and help designers out with fit and corrections on their patterns.  Recently, I was able to do this for Pickle Toes Patterns and their newest release Lazy Day Pants and Scrubs.

I have made dresses, shirts, shorts, leggings, pajamas, and heck even underwear, but pants were the one that really scared me.  I had heard horrible stories about fit and problems with fit so I was nervous, but I needed new pants and I was asked to sew these up.

I was so suprised that these pants fit the first time I made them. The fit was nice, they actually hit me at my natural waist and with that no worries about my mommy pouch or my undies sticking up in the back.

The pattern was easy to put together, as PTP uses this great color coded arrow system and it makes it fast and simple to get it right the first time.  They have these great patch pockets in the front and back and you can choose to leave the pockets off if you would like.

I used a stretch twill fabric that I originally bought for a dress, but it was a bit heavy!  I see now the plan all along was for me to have it for these great fitting pants.

These are not the skinny, tight fitting, jump into kind of pants, these pants are a nice fit that when made are a comfortable fit.

Being plus sized, I always struggled with buying pants, they either fit in the waist or the fit in the hips, never both.  When sewing your own you make them to fit your measurements, the fit is fabulous!

I have so many more pairs planned I will be sure to update and let you all know when I do.  You can get this great pattern at Pickle Toes Patterns.  The pattern is made to fit sizes 0-30, which is a 32-60 inch hip.  You will need a stretch woven, twill or stretch denim, some 1 inch elastic, and matching thread.

If you think you cannot sew pants, I am here to tell you that you can sew your own pants and they are going to be fabulous!  I would love to see your pants, comment back here with your photo!

It is time to sew all the pants!
