Today we need to talk about what kind of things we need to sew the Date Dress!

What kind of fabric do you like? Are you a floral girl? Do you need something more geometric? I know that for me I love all kinds of prints and very seldom sew solid colored things.  This would be a great dress to sew in a solid color and dress up with great accessories!

Simply by Ti sent me this fabulous blue floral for the dress sew a long and I just love it so very much!

Rayon Spandex is a great choice for this dress and I think some of the options available at Simply by Ti are just stellar!

This great Garnet Cream Rayon would be great for the holidays!

This fabric comes in olive and navy and all be work well.

For a more casual feel you could pick like the following, these are both rayon spandex and would be perfect.  The drape is just great on these.

Simply by Ti has a great choice of fabrics and I am sure you will find exactly what you need to make your perfect Date Dress.

This is the chart on how much fabric you will need for the dress.  This is based on a fabric that is 60 inches wide.

for the maxi skirt you will need 2.4 yards, the short skirt 1 and 3/4 yard, and 1 yard for the bodice  .

You are also going to need a sewing machine, and/or serger, matching thread, a stretch or ball point needle, I use knit interfacing for my hems.  Pins or clips, and an iron.  You can also use a coördinated fabric for the binding and waistband.

If you have not joined the Facebook group for the sew a long you can do so here and we can chat more about fabric choices and options!
