Are you afraid of sewing a swimsuit? I know I was pretty freaked out about the swim fabric thing and I even bought triple the fabric I needed in case I messed it up!
A sewing blog tour was just what I needed to get me moving in the right direction for finally sewing a swimsuit!
Designs by Call Ajaire, graciously gifted the pattern for me to make the Classic Maillot for Destini, and I had her pick out her favorite swim fabric from my friend Mel with the PurpleSeamstress Fabric.
One of the things I absolutely loved about this swim suit was that it covered all the important parts, both in the back and in front, so many little girls bathing suits show way too much skin for my taste. Destini told me that this is her favorite swim suit because it is so comfortable so I think that is all the thanks I needed. She loves it!
The Classic Maillot has so many options that you can do with just one pattern. I picked the most basic, because as I said I was afraid to sew a swim suit. I should not have been afraid the pattern was beautifully written and the instruction and illustrations were just perfect! You do need special swimsuit elastic that can be found in any fabric or craft store and other than that you are good to go with your regular sewing machine.
The Classic Maillot pattern is for a modern yet modest swimsuit for your girl. The legs and arms have great coverage and the straps are designed to stay put for swimming while adding interest to the front. Fully lined, this swimsuit will fit comfortably and hold up well to frequent use. With all the options, you’ll have everything you need to make a swimsuit or tankini from adorably cute baby all the way to stylish tween.
I think swim suit really works for her! As you can see she loves it and I was so glad to make it for her. I think if you are on the fence about swim suit sewing you should jump in and get your feet wet you may find yourself surprised at how well you do!
Make sure you check out all of the stops on the swimsuit tour and don’t forget to enter the great giveaways HERE Swimsuit Sewing Blog Tour Giveaway!
