Having a baby at the start of summer, is rather rough, while lucky the heat of summer did not make it unbearable to be pregnant, the recovery and not be able to go into a pool to cool off for 6 weeks is hard.  When those six weeks were up I was ready! Thankfully Beachfront Baby had been so great to send us a water sling for review.

I was ready! I looked up all of the precautions about taking a newborn in the pool and then spent the next hour or so getting ready.
If you have a newborn and you want to take them swimming in a chlorinated pool it is fine at about the one month mark, however, it is advisable to use a home pool where the chlorine levels are not too high, and you need to be careful of the sun as you know sunscreen is not advisable for babies under six months. It is also suggested you use a swim diaper in case of a nasty poop accident.

So, with that out-of-the-way we were ready to go.  Went over to a friends and then we slinged up and we were off into the water.  Since I wear him in the sling all the time it was pretty easy to adjust to the mesh sling, if you are used to other apparatus’ that require buckles and straps and velcro, you are going to feel so free in the water sling.  You need to practice for a bit though, stand over a bed or other soft surface and put the baby in the sling and adjust it to feel snug and close.P_20140728_154516  Photo  instructions with babywearing safety info & tips is included with each carrier. Beachfront Baby carriers place baby in the optimal position, high on the wearer’s chest and close enough to kiss. This is extremely important in any water environment.

I loved how light and airy the sling was, and I like how quickly it dried.  So, the pool was great baby boy was not so excited at first but, he got cooled off and so did I and it was really easy and comfortable.  New baby’s are slippery! The sling helped so much in being able to hold him securely.

Now the best part of this water mesh sling is that you can use it to take a shower with your baby! You can wash the baby through the mesh with their soap and rinse them the same way.  It was easy for me as I have an adjustable shower head that allowed me to get pretty soft water flow.

Water slings may not be one of those “necessity” items, but let me tell you it is one of the nicest gotta have for ease of life items.  You can jump over to their website and check out all of the carriers and slings they have, and have a great time swimming and showering with your baby!
