So this crazy thing happens when a kid reaches about 2 or so, they start to understand gravity and it seems no matter what you give them they are going to drip it, spill it, throw it or even better just throw it upside down and watch everything fall out.
We love to snack on multi grain cereal and often the babies snack with us, the little o’s fit right in their hands and it gives them practice moving food to their mouths. However, we have found that we now have multi grain O’s in ever crackcrevice and corner of the house. We sweep daily and I think we make up a whole box of these snacks found in the dustpan.
I was sent the Fresh Baby’s Snack Cup and I was excited to put it to use. I filled itup with our snacks and let them go! Once they figured out that they could reach in and grab their own snack we were golden. They love doing it themselves, we love that we don’t have dumped cups everywhere.
The best part is the silicone top is easy on the little hands. Some of these cups we have tried are rough around the edges and often times scrape up their hands when they are getting the snacks out, which makes them not want to use them.
I also liked that I could take the top off of the cup and use it as a small cereal bowl that has a steady bottom on it. The size is perfect, they are not chasing their cereal around a big bowl filled with milk, and because the sides are straight it makes it easy to “trap” those bites on the spoon.
We found that the snack cup with the lid was better for dry snacks instead of things like fruit as it was hard to get the fruits out without squashing and smashing them on the way out. We did however have great luck with whole grain cereals, graham crackers, and bits of dried fruits and raisins. Watch the kids close while they are eating these foods, as some with very small bits are a choking hazard.
