I love to feed my family, they all rely on me to make the decisions regarding what comes into the house for them to eat. Sometimes this is a heavy burden, trying to make sure they are healthy and have nutritious options available is important. I was fortunate enough to get to work with Dei Fratelli Tomato Products and find new ways to cook for my family, pleasing their palette and raising my status as a mom chef. I was sent a variety of products to try too. The Pasta sauce was probably one of my favorites, two of my kids have asked me if we can get more of the “really good” sauce. I think that is a great testimony of what they like! I also tried their Pizza Sauce when I made my mom’s recipe for Ground Beef Homemade Pizza. I had friends that often times talked about my mothers pizza and for some reason it was one of the many things that she cooked that made an impression. I made my own crust and used the Dei Fratelli Pizza Sauce and frankly it was delicious! I know for me this was a hit because I am able to make up the dough for the crust ahead of time, and when it was time to eat we could all customize our pizzas according to whatwe liked, some like onions, some around here don’t. I also was able to make a small pizza for my son that was at work during dinner time so that he could heat it up when it got home. One of the things I love about cooking Italian foods is that they make such easy leftovers. Dei Fratelli products stood up to being in the fridge for a day and their flavor was only enhanced rather than becoming watery and flavorless. I really think you are going to love these products and will be glad to introduce them into your recipes and your weekly meal plans. I am including my mom’s Ground Beef Homemade Pizza recipe here. I hope you try it, if you do let me know what you think! Ground Beef Homemade Pizza 3 cups flour DIRECTIONS Combine sugar, water and yeast in a measuring cup or small bowl. Combine flour and salt in a large bowl and make a well in the center. Pour yeast mixture and oil in well and stir into dry ingredients until you have a soft dough. If dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour. Knead until smooth on a lightly floured surface. Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a towel and let rise until doubled. IF YOU HAVE A BREAD MACHINE skip the above steps and just put the ingredients in according to the machine’s instructions and use the “dough” setting. Punch down and let rest for 10 minutes. Makes one deep dish or two 12-inch pizza crusts. I put the majority of the dough into a 13X9 glass baking dish and the rest in apie pan. I added the Dei Fratelli Pizza Sauce at this point. On your stove top brown one pound of very lean ground beef, one sliced onion and two chopped garlic cloves, when cooked through, add to the pizza dough over the sauce, cover with shredded mozzarella cheese and bake at 450 for about 15 minutes. If you are using a metal pan the crust cooks faster and will become crispy. The glass pan I used was more like a deep dish pizza. |
This was fabulous! I mean this really made my whole family ask “why are we not eating this all the time!!” Easily pair with a salad, a fruit bowl, or even pasta and you have a complete meal.
Looking for the best sauces? Try Dei Fratelli, and I know you won’t be sorry.
