I remember when I bought my first new car from a dealer, I was about 22 and pregnant with my second baby, my husband and I went to the dealership closest to our house because we had to walk, we literally had no car. The sales manager kept trying to get us to sign the papers before I was satisfied with what all of the paperwork said. I asked him several times what the interest rate was on the loan, several times he answered with, “What does it matter if you can afford the payment?” It matters, trust me when I tell you that it matters, it can save you hundreds if not thousands of dollars over the course of the loan. When I had to go with my husband to pick some papers up, the sales manager actually asked my dad if I was always like that, my dad just said, “Yes, when it comes to her money!” We did get the car and we got a good interest rate. Don’t think that dealers and sales people are on your side, they are only looking at their bottom line. When you go with a credit union, you know that you are going to get the best loan from the best people.
Do you belong to a credit union? I know that there are many different credit unions and most are connected to certain employers or groups of people like teachers, or postal employees, and these financial institutions are owned by their members to serve their members.
Evangelical Christian Credit Union is here to serve the needs of churches, christians, ministries and employees of churches. Like most credit unions they usually have better rates for all accounts than banks. You will also find that credit unions give you better service than banks, they always have a more personal feel to them and work harder to make sure you are getting all that you need. Credit Unions also aim for a long-term relationship not only with you but with your entire family so that keeps that relationship stronger longer than banks and other financial institutions.
Credit Unions are non-profit, which means in the case of a loan, representatives at the credit union cannot receive compensation for you financing with them, they want you to have the best loan for your needs, available when you need it.
