Did you know that it is common and considered normal for babies to spit up sometimes? It can be a very normal thing for a new baby to spit up during a burping or even after a feeding a small amount. Th ey are developing their whole digestive system and it is all new to their little bodies. The question that 1 think is on everyone’s mind is when is spit up an issue that requires a change in formula?
I have had 3 babies who have had major spitting up, and the first one was so long ago that the only thing the doctor ever told me to do was more laundry. I wish that Enfamil A.R.™ was available for that first one, he and I both would have been much more comfortable.
Sometimes a baby may have GERD, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, but more often than not babies just have uncomplicated reflux and spitting up. Your doctor may suggest sitting the baby in a more upright position while eating, and keeping them in an upright position for 20 minutes or so after finishing a feeding, burping them more frequently and they also may recommend thickening the babies formula with rice cereal.
Trust me when I tell you this is a pain, it seems to never fail that while I was doing this I got cereal everywhere, I had to carry it everywhere I went and that stuff is flaky and sticks to everything, not to mention finding that perfect thickness that worked and still flowed through a nipple was an ongoing battle. I was also very concerned about changing the nutrient balance of the formula.
Enfamil A.R. is a thickened baby formula without the hassle of adding rice to standard formula! Enfamil A.R. saved me so much work and worry when it came to feeding time. The resulting feeding was smooth, it flowed through the bottle easily and the best part was that it helped the spitting up most of the time and I knew that nutrition the baby was getting was balanced. I did not have to worry about them getting too much cereal too fast.
Enfamil A.R. comes in powder that you mix with clean water and then wait about 3-5 minutes before you feed the baby, it’s so convenient to travel with and to use when making bottles on the go. Enfamil A.R. also comes in a ready to feed liquid in 2-ounce nursette® bottles, an 8-ounce bottle and a 32 ounce can.
Some babies love the ready to feed, others love the powder so make sure you take the time to try both. Enfamil A.R. meets the AAP recommendations on reflux management and provides the benefits of thickened feedings with more balanced nutrition and less hassle compared to adding rice cereal to formula.
