When you first go down the street you can’t believe a restaurant this good could be this close and when you walk up to the door you are greeted by a large wooden door with a handle on it that reads STACKED.
As you step inside you are greeted with a beautiful rustic interior with a large bar a vast patio and lots of cozy tables to enjoy your food at, I instantly felt comfortable in the environment and it made me look forward to our meal.
We are greeted readily and aken to our table and we are instantly made aware that this is not going to be just any old breakfast. We were offered a breakfast shot, or perhaps a mimosa, or even a cup of fresh brewed coffee. We tried the breakfasts shots of course who could resist? You take this tasty shot, follow it by a small OJ chaser and eat a peice of bacon and you feel like your mouth has been treated with a full pancake breakfast in a cup. Amazing.
After we were relaxed we were brought three of the most unique breakfast burritos we had eaten and we do eat them often. There was a pastrami breakfast burrito that made me feel like I was sitting in the best deli and they mixed it perfectly with eggs and potatoes, wrapped in a slightly grilled tortilla. Amazing flavors all dancing in perfect harmony.
The black bean and chorizo burrito is full of flavor and spice but not at all that spice, it had a taste that took me to a great mexican restaurant where you know the food is made and presented by authetic cooks. The black beans brought some of the flavors together and made the whole burrito come together with excellent flair.
I STACKED some fabulous french toast with vanilla yogurt, mixed berries, and banana, it was fresh and delicious and all of the flavors were brought together with a drizzle of sweet cream cheese that added just the perfect amount of richness and sweetness without being overpowering. You can choose from challah bread, cinnamon bread or hawaiian sweet bread to start your french toast and top it really with anything you can imagine, even as simply as butter and maple syrup. It was hot, fresh and delicious.
We were then surprised by a special menu offering. The Pastrami flat bread was out of this world. If the breakfast faire was not enough this final speciality was so amazing that I cannot imagine ever not having it when you go to STACKED! Perfect flat bread, thicker than most but not so thick it took away from the toppings, it was drizzled with garlic sauce and then topped with cheese, lean pastrami, dijon mustard and diced garlic pickles. This is a magical maestro in your mouth that will have you singing its praises.
I am so excited that this new location in Huntington Beach is opening on the 18th of Jan. and that it is offering such great breakfast foods. You can stack your yogurt, french toast, pancakes, eggs benedict, egg scramble and breakfast burritos, and that does not even mention the Pastrami Flatbread.
If you are in Southern California, you have to get here, you wont be sorry it is amazing!! If you happen to get over there let me know what your thoughts were, would love to hear all about what you tried.
