I’ve partnered with Kim at Life in a House of Testosterone to share this ESV Family Devotional Bible Giveaway she is hosting with my readers. Check out Kim’s review below and then enter to win at the bottom of the post!
I have loved reading since I was a young girl, so I have gotten pretty good at building images from what I’m reading to accompany the story line in my mind. My boys, on the other hand, are more visual learners and having pictures to accompany what they are reading is sometimes a must for them to be able to retain what they have read.
It’s one of the reasons why I love the ESV Family Devotional Bible. It is designed to help families read and apply God’s Word together. All of my favorite Bible stories from my childhood are beautifully illustrated – an added bonus for my boys. I know it probably sounds a little wonky, but I finally feel as though I’ve found a Bible that will allow me to share God’s word with my kids in a way that they will “get” you know? I’m super excited about it, and the boys have been too – I’ve caught them flipping through the pages and checking out the pictures on more than one occasion! We don’t have a home church that we go to every week, so teaching them about God and the Bible is up to their dad and I, and this is really going to go a long way in that area of our lives. I honestly cannot find the words to express how thrilled I am to have this Bible in our family now and to have the opportunity to sit down and read a portion each day with my boys and discuss God’s word with them!
“The ESV Family Devotional Bible
is designed to help families read and apply God’s Word together. This full-color edition features the complete ESV text interspersed with engaging illustrations and gospel-centered devotions related to key Bible stories—guiding families through the entirety of God’s Word over the course of a year. Each devotion also includes discussion questions and suggestions for additional reading, helping families develop a habit of reading the Bible together and applying its truth to all of life.”
I love the key features of this bible. It measures 5.375″ x 8.625″ with 1,408 pages; 130 of those pages are full-page, full-color illustrations of that particular Bible story. It also includes full-color maps (always handy to have to figure out where things happened) and a beautiful ribbon marker to mark your place. Another feature that I love is that each section contains “reflection questions” that will get your family talking about that particular Bible story and how you can implement those lessons into everyday life.
