Having done reviews for a little over three years and not including any of my sewing things has been a little odd, because it consumes so much of my time.

I have thought about what kinds of things I would like to review that I would need as a sewist and of course the first thing that popped into my mind was fabric.  I know a real shock huh? However, the most important thing I think you need when sewing is accurate pattern pieces and the only way to get those are by having great scissors.

Kai Scissors were so kind and sent me three different pairs of scissors to review for the blog and I have to say that I am simply amazed at the quality of them.  I received a large pair, a medium pair and a small embroidery size pair and I cannot live without any of them now.

The fabric scissors I had used were bought at a big box store and they were not cheap, I bought the best they carried, and to be honest they worked well enough.  I often had instances where I had to contort my body to get decent cuts for my fabric pieces though.

When my Kai Scissors came in the mail I could not wait to open them up and start cutting with them.  The first thing I noticed was how comfortable they were in my hand.  The full size scissors are a good weight but don’t feel too heavy in my hand.  The finger grips are padded lightly, with no squishy feeling, just soft enough to help your hands grip better.

Now the cut of them is beyond extraordinary, it handled, woven, double brushed poly, cotton/lycra, and swim fabric like they were cutting through butter.  I could not believe how different they were from my other scissors.  I had no hand fatigue from cutting either which was nice, as I have fibromyalgia and sometimes my hands hurt if I cut too much.

The blades glide so smoothly against the fabric and the cuts were so clean, no more choppy edges for me.  The large ones were great for cutting large pattern pieces out, however let me tell you that medium pair are just perfection for doing baby clothing, neck and arm curves.  I did not have to move into weird positions to get great cuts.

My mother who sewed quilts, clothing, curtains and just about everything else she could always told me how important good scissors were.  I never believed that it made a difference and now I am here to tell you that it makes a HUGE difference, not only in your comfort but in your finished products.

My cuts are perfect with the Kai Scissors and I have to tell you I will never be without them.  I was asked what I want for Mother’s Day and of course I said more Kai scissors.

I think deciding to review sewing tools and accessories was a great decision.  What would you like to see me review next? Let me know in the comments below..
