      Yum

Starting to sew with PDF patterns I found 5 out of 4 Patterns, and they were the first PDF patterns I used.  Making the Knot Your Average Dress taught me a lot.   There is nothing like sewing your first of anything!

5 out of 4 has an incredible selection of Womens, Kids, Mens, and even Maternity and Nursing patterns.  During their growth and development they have nurtured a great Facebook group where people can go and get help and advice.

This week we celebrate that fabulous group reaching the goal of 20,000 members strong! What an accomplishment.

When I was asked to be in this tour it was an easy pick for me as my daughter in law is pregnant and needed maternity pants desperately.  I chose to sew up the maternity version of the Diane Joggers and I again was very pleased with the pattern and tutorial.  The pants came out great, even if I did have to go through a few muslins to get them just right.

They actually give you 6 waistband options with this pattern – Encased elastic, drawstring, Knit, Yoga Fold over, Contour, Maternity (underbelly).  We did the underbelly first and they were just not comfortable for her and the way she is carrying the baby this time. in the end we went with a Yoga fold over for the final pair and she absolutely loves her new joggers.

There are many things that you can do with this pattern besides making jogger pants, I have a good friend that uses this pattern to make all of her work pants with a hem, and ponte fabric.  I used baby french terry from Simply by Ti  fabrics, and it is so amazingly soft, and easy to work with.  The french terry gave me the classic jogger look with cuffs that my daughter in law likes.

These are not the typical baggy joggers, these are a great fitted pants that feel comfortable and look fantastic, no matter which options you choose, they of course have pockets too, so we know those are always a bonus.  If you have never made pants before this is a good pattern to start with.  Great results without too much trouble.  I hope you drop by the Facebook group and send them your best wishes and congrats on this achievement.
