Per the website:
“Our Snugglish baby floor seats are designed at an angle with plush materials to keep your baby comfortable, safe and upright to promote proper digestion and growth. They are also waterproof for life’s little accidents and are available in leather and fabric.“
Snugglish is an amazing product. I would even go so far to say remarkable. This product can help babies in three major ways, flat head syndrome, GERD, and Laryngomalacia. The remarkable part is a lot of babies with one of these conditions will usually have at least two. One product the Snugglish helps with them all.
For flat head syndrome it seems rather obvious, the less an infant lays against a rigid surface the better for the shape of their heads. In the Snugglish the baby is not laying flat on a hard surface, instead the baby is laying on a firm surface with little micro balls inside that forms to the natural shape of the baby without them being in a sunken state. It supports the baby from head to toe rather than them being on a rigid, hard surface. We all know that we have to put our babies on their backs to help prevent SIDS, and while this practice has saved a lot of lives, doctors have noticed a fivefold increase in misshapen heads and more infants have been developing flat head as a result of spending a large amount of time on their backs on flat crib surfaces. This raises the question, do firm surfaces really have to be rigid? The Snugglish is not and offers great support. Snugglish features a safety harness to lock your baby in on his back and correct positional displacements and accidental rolling, and it has been CPSIA tested and certified for Child Seat Stability and Safety.
Babies with GER are in so much pain and misery and they bring the whole house down with them. They are not sleeping, they don’t want to be put down, and that means somebody is up and with them all the time, usually the mom, 24 hours a day 7 days a week is a lot of time that mom’s are not sleeping. Poor babies, and poor mommies! GER babies vomit, have esophageal pain, and are pretty hard to deal with.
This occurs when stomach contents flow back up into the esophagus—the muscular tube that carries food and liquids from the mouth to the stomach. GER is also called acid reflux or acid regurgitation because the stomach’s digestive juices contain acid. They throw up their food and or milk mixed with acid and it burns, some babies don’t throw it up, they re-swallow the contents of their little tummies and it burns going all the way back down as well. This is a horrible feeling for their little tummy. My son had reflux very bad, and now my 7 week old grandson has horrible reflux, nobody sleeps in this house. He is miserable and crying and you can only hold them up for so long. The medicines only work so well, they do not bring total relief.
A Snugglish is one of those things that insurance should cover so that parents can sleep, babies can sleep and everyone would be healthier. It is that important in my opinion. Proper positioning of the babies head and body can drastically reduce GER and discomfort, doctors highly recommend an incline for babies with GER. Snugglish is lab tested to improve the positioning of the baby in an inclined surface to help reduce the likelihood of GER.
Laryngomalacia or LER is hard on parents as well, a percentage of babies with laryngomalacia do struggle with breathing, eating and gaining weight. When your baby is struggling with those things, you are not a happy parent, you are a very worried parent. This is when a baby has cartilage in the larynx that is easily collapsible, when it collapse inward it makes that baby breath very noisily. It is an actual softening of the tissues in the larynx above the vocal cords. Presence of GER actually makes LER worse in babies and positioning the baby in a recline position instead of flat on their back helps reduce the inflammation that can cause the LER to worsen. Most babies that have GER also have LER they seem to travel as a pair. The Snugglish is patented in its slanted design and helps reduce the risks of LER.
