We love Daniel Tiger here, we seem to find time to watch it every day in one way or another. I love the show personally because I think that the individual lessons that Daniel teaches kids are incredibly valuable.
Stories include…
Super Daniel! – Daniel and Grandpere are at home pretending to be superheroes when Daniel notices that Dad has forgotten to take his lunch to work with him. He and Grandpere take Dad’s lunchbox to the Clock Factory and Daniel uses his imagination to have several super adventures along the way.
This is one of my favorites, when Daniel takes his fathers lunch to him it was nice to see that the tables were turned and the child was doing a good deed for his Dad. Kids learn so much from this lesson, too often kids expect us to do for them but, they don’t always get the opportunity to do it for someone else. Having grandpere with him is an additional lesson that you can do things with extended family and it does not always have to e mom and dad.
Goodnight Daniel BONUS- Tonight, Daniel is pretending to be Super Daniel! But after dinner, he has to follow his nighttime routine even though he would rather play. Young viewers follow Daniel as he gets ready for bed and eventually he learns that even super heroes get sleepy.
This is adorable, DAniel makes one of his famous catchy tunes to make cleaning up and brushing teeth to get ready for bed an automatic routine of doing what is good for your body and house and then just going to bed. Every body gets sleepy and exploring that is always a good thing for kids to see.
Daniel Fixes Trolley – Daniel accidentally breaks one of his toy trolley’s wheels while playing. When Mom is too busy to help Daniel put the wheel back on, she urges him to try to figure it out on his own and explains that fixing it on his own will make him feel good about himself.
Trolley!! One of Daniels favorite toys, he has his pajamas, and toys and loves to play with Trolley, having to fix a problem all by himself is a pivotal moment for him as he is able to do a good thing for himself to make him feel so much better about what he can do with no help from grown ups.
Daniel Tries a New Food – Miss Elaina is having dinner with the Tiger family and she encourages Daniel to try some new food: Veggie Spaghetti and Banana Swirl. Daniel is convinced he won’t like Veggie Spaghettit, even though he’s never tried it before. Miss Elaina encourages him to be adventurous and try the new food. She does the same herself, and even though she doesn’t like all of it, she’s proud of herself for trying.
Ahhhh, the battle of the new food, most kids do not like to try new things and they think that if it does not look like anything they have eaten before, it is quite the adventure with Daniel and he does end up trying it with his friend Elaina, and she is the one that does not like part of the meal! Again, a great lesson for kids to learn that you have to try whether or not you like something.
Daniel Doesn’t Want to Stop Playing – Daniel is playing “Trolley” with Mom and Dad in the living room. When Mom tells him that it’s time to work on his school project, Daniel doesn’t want to stop playing. Mom helps Daniel move on by allowing him to pick one more thing to do with his toy Trolley. Daniel makes one last stop and then he’s ready to work on his project.
Kids are so busy and when they find something that they like to do they never want to stop, mom tries to get Daniel to stop playing but he just wont have it, so they again make up the one more song so Daniel can find one more thing to do and then it is time to stop and move on to the next thing. The struggle of this is real and again Daniel Tiger finds a great way for kids to deal with things and find a solution that is good for everyone.
We sing the songs and love the lessons that are taught in this great Super Daniel DVD! If you have not seen Daniel Tiger before, I am sure your kids will love it and so will you, and this series of episodes is especially good!

June 2, 2016 at 9:27 pmI love that Mr. Rogers’ family continued his “Mr. Rogers Neighborhood” characters with this show. I was always such a fan of his. My only wish was that he would have allowed toys to have been made of the original series while he was still with us.
